My name is Garrett, and I’m a U.S. Army veteran, graphic design student at McHenry County College, and a passionate photographer. My journey with the camera began when I was young, fascinated by the ability to capture a single moment and preserve it forever. Though life took me down many different paths—through military service, automotive work, and professional driving—my passion for photography always lingered in the background. It wasn’t until I started my studies at MCC that I decided to truly pursue photography as both an art form and a meaningful part of my life.
Photography has become my creative outlet and a way to express emotions that words can’t always capture. It allows me to find peace, focus, and balance—especially as a way to manage my PTSD and reconnect with the world around me. Through my lens, I strive to capture authentic stories, raw emotions, and the beauty hidden in everyday moments.
My experiences in the military taught me discipline, patience, and attention to detail, all of which I apply to my work behind the camera. Whether I’m photographing landscapes, people, or quiet moments of reflection, I aim to create images that speak truth and inspire others to see the world differently.
